Master documents are large ones that contain a collection of smaller documents of various kinds and types.
They may include a package or bundle of raw HTML files and the Perl, CGI or PHP scripts that generate them, tables and the forms used to populate them, or complete CPAN distributions with all of their parts and pieces in a single commpressed file.
They can also be whole Libraries.
