Q's purpose is to define our place in time.

In the MediaWiki context, especially on a slow-moving Wikia like this one, a daily resolution is usually sufficient. Q gives us a simple but unique representation of a single turn of the planet in the form:

In seven more days, it will be Thursday again, so we need another variable to distinguish this Thursday from last Thursday, next Thursday and all other Thursdays past and future:

Weeks are numbered from 1 to 53 each year. Now we are unique for 51 or 52 more Thursdays. All we need now is something to count the planets revolutions around the Sun:

Now we put them all together using "/" (forward slash) which is handy for making directory references and traversing daily, weekly and yearly contexts:

  • Today: 2020/28/Thursday

Q | DQ | Queue | QUEUE | Quarter
