Trust metric is a set of measurements within a development group. Several dimensions are evident when it comes to trust:

  1. Integrity - Does this person tell the truth and represent peers fairly?
  2. Competence - Does this person know what to do and how to do it?
  3. Diligence - Does this person stay on task and focus a reasonable amount of effort on the project?

Development groups that are coming up with valuable open source code cannot do so with irresponsible people ans haphazard practices. Trust metrics can be used to add a transparent evaluation construct for helping to set permissions, grant access, or divide resources among members and groups within an organization.
